Stingrays, or Myliobatiformes is one of the five orders of "batoids", cartilaginous fishes related to sharks. They were formerly included in the order Rajiformes.

Stingrays are characterised by their flattened body shape and long tail, tipped with a very sharp poisonous barb. They are primarily bottom dwelling fish, surfing over the substrate and rocks looking for prey.
